Ground is broken and work begins on the southern half of the park.

Drainage work completed and the ground was leveled from heights as high as 8' and then seeded with grass. The area would be the sight of the two end-to-end (200' x 360') regulation soccer/football fields.

Groundwork begins on the northwest corner of the park which will be the location of two more regulation soccer/football fields. Drainage, leveling and seeding work is completed.

The 250-car parking lot on the west side on Mangus Drive is completed.

2002 |
The groundwork begins on the four ball diamonds located in the northeast corner of Newton Park. Drainage, leveling and seeding is completed.

After 2 years, work finally begins "above ground" on structures and lighting. The first of 39 Musco lights are installed. The lights tower over the park at 70' tall. Work begins on the main office the Golden Dome.

The office roof and lighting projects are completed as winter ends.

Fencing is erected around the park perimeter totaling 1.75 miles of 8' vinyl coated chain link fence.

Bleachers, dugouts and scoring towers are installed on all four regulation soccer/football fields.

The Golden Dome is finished and a 3' wide golden American Eagle is mounted above the structure.

Concrete is poured between the ball diamonds and around the Golden Dome structure.

The 60' tall flag pole is installed and the 25' wide flag hoisted allot.
